The following four agencies/organizations are the core partners involved in the operations of the Back Bay Science Center facility. This group makes decisions regarding the facility, including: event planning, operation and maintenance, scheduling, planning, etc.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife owns and manages the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Reserve (752 acre parcel), and Shellmaker Island makes up part of the Ecological Reserve:
